Shelly Williams started her travel career in 1991 working in her family’s travel agency at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. In 2000 she accepted a position with Great Southern Travel as office manager in the Lebanon Missouri travel office. In 2006 she became involved with the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazines first Breast Cancer Survivors cruise and has been thrilled to see it grow into the annual event it is today. In 2009 she cruised with the group and enjoyed meeting all of the cruise guests she had spoken with over the years.

Shelly and her husband Ed reside in Lebanon Missouri with their two daughters, Shelby 18, and Shannon 14. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading and scrapbooking. Her favorite activity is escorting travel groups, the Breast Cancer Survivors and a group of girlfriends to Mexico each year are her two favorite. She is a novice writer and a want-to-be film maker and her goal is to one day live20abroad. She is President of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and spends many hours giving back to the community she lives in.

Cancer has hit close to home as both of her Grandmothers were taken by cancer. “Breast cancer has touched everyone’s lives in one way or another. This cruise is such a healing and bonding experience and I am in awe of the women and their stories.” said Shelly, “I encourage everyone to come along with us, you will find that this is not only a journey to the Caribbean but also a journey of self, whether you are a survivor, a spouse, a sister, daughter, caregiver or a friend.”

Suzie HumphreyMeet Brenda Lee Purcell Nutter, Cruise Coordinator...
Hello, my name is Brenda Lee Purcell Nutter. I am the daughter of Kenneth & Joann Purcell. My father died of cancer when I was 5 years old, I have the most terrific and wonderful mother in the world. She is my Hero. She raised 4 kids by herself. My sister, Linda, has been so wonderful to me; I don’t know what I would do without her. She helped me through a divorce, cancer and still helps me with every day life. I have 3 children, all grown, and each of them have blessed me with a grandchild and my middle son blessed me with 3 step-grandchildren. I love being a mother and a grandmother. Some of my mom must have rubbed off on me. My daughter and another hero of mine, has also been there for me throughout my cancer - she was almost 16 when I first was diagnosed, now she’s 21 and the mother of the most wonderful grandson ever! We were blessed with a grandson who was born with down syndrome- God definitely has given us the most wonderful of gifts!

I have been in the insurance business for almost 20 years; I have a great boss and wonderful clients. I love working with the public. I have worked with the public pretty much since my first job at age 14- working at Dairy Queen- thus- my love of ice cream!.

Five years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and by the power of God and giving knowledge to great physicians I am still here to tell my story. 3 cancers, 7 surgeries, fortunately no chemo or radiation- I am a better and stronger person for it. I am looking forward to meeting other cancer survivors on the cruise; we share something that others just don’t understand. Life is a blessing- I thank God everyday for allowing me to be alive. I hope to spread that joy to each one I meet.
I am very much looking forward to the Cruise in May 2010 and meeting each of you and hearing your stories. We will laugh, cry and all make new friends that we will cherish forever.

Suzie HumphreyMeet Linda Adkins, Cruise Coordinator...
Hi! My name is Linda Adkins and I live just outside a small town in Missouri. I have been employed as a customer service rep and assistant to the office manager for a electrical manufacturing company for the past 13 years. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside with family and friends, swimming, riding four wheelers, working in the yard and garden. Most of all, I love playing with my grandsons, Colt (6) and Taten (3), they are the joy of my life. I also like playing with my golden retriever, Buddy, my cats and feeding bottle calves. I used to keep busy playing different sports such as, softball, volleyball and racquetball. Golf is on my list of things to learn to do in the near future.

My family and friends are wonderful. I am very proud of each and every one of them. Very special people in my life include; my partner, Erick, he has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone without question. My gorgeous daughter, Andrea, is full of life and energy and very independent. My son, Christopher, is a very handsome hard working young man and his beautiful wife, Amanda, are the parents of my wonderful grandsons. I was born to Joann Wood Pur cell and Kenneth Lee Purcell fifty years ago. My mom is the world’s best mother, you can’t help but love her. Bobert (Bob and Robert combined), who is more than a dad and takes care of us all and we all depend on him too much. Randy, my big brother, is the sweetest brother anyone could want. My best friend and sister, Brenda, is the strongest, most faithful person in the whole world. I am the older sister and suppose to be the one taking care of her but she always takes charge and gets things done.

I became involved with Relay for Life several years ago to help my sister with her relay team. Since then she has had 3 differenet types of cancer and we celebrate daily that she is one of the survivors. We lost our father to cancer when were young and Erick lost his mother recently to cancer. There have been several very important people in my life impacted by this disease. I am so excited about the Breast Cancer Survivor Cruise and cannot wait to meet you all.

God Bless! Contact Linda at ladkins@hughes.net or call 417-718-2315 or 417-533-3735.
